What is ecommerce image editing?

Ecommerce image editing is the process of enhancing and retouching product photos to make them visually appealing and suitable for online stores. This involves tasks like background removal, color correction, resizing, adding shadows, and optimizing images for web use. The goal is to present products in the best possible light, attract customers, and increase sales by ensuring images meet the standards of ecommerce platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ecommerce image editor?

To thrive as an Ecommerce Image Editor, you need expertise in digital image editing, color correction, and retouching, generally supported by experience or training in graphic design or photography. Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and other image editing software is typically required, along with familiarity with e-commerce content management systems. They often receive raw photos and provide feedback or request reshoots if necessary, especially when image quality or consistency is lacking. Collaboration with marketing teams is also essential, as editors must align final images with promotional campaigns and web layouts, ensuring visuals are optimized for conversion and user experience. Regular communication and file sharing tools are commonly used to streamline these collaborative processes.
