Position Overview:

As a Developmental Preschool Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality early childhood education and developmental support to young learners with diverse needs. Working collaboratively with a team of educators and specialists, you will create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that fosters the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of preschool-aged children.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development and Instruction:
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional activities that align with the individualized needs and abilities of each child.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that promote early literacy, numeracy, language development, and social skills development through hands-on, play-based learning experiences.
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies, differentiation techniques, and assistive technology tools to support the learning needs of children with diverse abilities and learning styles.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and observations to monitor children's developmental progress and identify areas of strength and areas needing additional support.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including special education professionals, therapists, and support staff, to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for children with special needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's progress, assessment data, and anecdotal observations to inform instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Family and Community Engagement:
  • Establish positive and collaborative relationships with families, serving as a trusted partner in supporting children's development and addressing their unique needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians through parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, and informal updates to share insights into children's progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
  • Collaborate with community agencies, early intervention programs, and other external stakeholders to access resources and support services for children and families as needed.
  • Classroom Management and Environment:
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active engagement, exploration, and creativity among students.
  • Implement positive behavior management strategies and social-emotional learning activities to foster a sense of belonging, self-regulation, and mutual respect among children.
  • Organize and maintain a well-equipped classroom environment with developmentally appropriate materials, resources, and learning centers to support children's active learning and exploration.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field.
  • Valid teaching license/certification for early childhood education or special education.
  • Previous experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly those with developmental delays or disabilities.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development theories, best practices in early intervention, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and engage with diverse families and communities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Training in evidence-based instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Knowledge of differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
