Job Description:

The Department of Emergency Medicine and the Global Emergency Medicine Innovation and

Implementation Research (GEMINI) Center is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to the Division of Translational Health Sciences. The position will be focused primarily on implementation science projects, data analysis (quantitative and qualitative), and project management tasks. The main research focus will be support for climate change projects, through the Duke Climate and Health Research Imitative (CHeRI). Secondary projects focusing on health system research within Duke University Health System are also likely. The postdoc will provide resources, and assist in the development of deliverables for the projects. This position will be expected to participate in project leadership and management, writing manuscripts, grants, engaging with the CHeRI leadership team, and department and health system faculty in research activities. The position will also include an educational component, teaching and mentoring locally and globally. For department-specific work, the researcher will analyze data, build academic dissemination products, meet weekly with the Division of Translational Health Sciences and the GEMINI Center members, support grant proposal development and engage with research activities in the department. Similarly, there may be some travel opportunities in internationally or domestically for dissemination, and plenty of opportunities for career advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply implementation science methods into starting and ongoing projects
  • Assist CHeRI PIs with implementation science resources and deliverables.
  • Learn background/research methods of studies for which analysis is conducted with limited direction and supervision.
  • Statistical analysis and database management.
  • Conduct systematic reviews
  • Mixed-methods community engagement methodological development.
  • Collaborate on multiple research projects at one time.
  • Preparing and explaining data reports to primary investigators.
  • Preparation of independent research manuscripts for publication.
  • Assist with data queries, statistical analysis sections (including power analysis), and implementation science methods for research grant proposals.
  • Work effectively with other members of the research team.

Requirements:

  • Earned a doctorate (PhD, MD/MPH, etc.) in implementation science
  • Demonstrated proficiency through previous research experience implementation science methods application and dissemination
  • Demonstrated proficiency through previous developed analytical codes with R Language for Statistical computing, and qualitative analysis using NVivo.
  • Demonstrated proficiency through previous systematic reviews (and meta-analysis).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Implementation science methods expertise.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary multinational research team.
  • Collaborate and develop partnerships with local and global Duke EM, amd CHeRI,
  • Strong implementation science skills in the areas of methodology, application, and analysis.
  • Knowledge or interest in climate change, alcohol research, health system research, and acute care research.
  • Ability and interest in learning new and innovative methods.
  • Flexibility in working across a wide array of projects and subject matter.

Interest in assisting with recruitment and data collection of ongoing trials and project management
