Summary
Assists in all areas of meal preparation while following standardized recipes and food handling procedures. Prepares food in accordance with prescribed diet specifications and assists with the cleaning of the kitchen.
Job Duties
  • Prepares between-meal nourishments and serves in accordance to procedural guidelines.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure a smooth meal service.
  • Ensures that all nourishments are delivered at correct time and are properly stored.
  • Handles all food properly and records and maintains all food temperature checks.
  • Places food on tray or plate according to menu and diet requirements.
  • Performs final plate preparation, including plating and garnishing.
  • Obtains food supplies for next meal and labels food properly.
  • Offers menu substitutions when items are out of stock.
  • Tastes, smells, and observes all foods prepared to confirm recipes and flavor.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, recipe directions, and diet order cards.
  • Knowledge of safety guidelines and sanitation.
  • Knowledge of clinical diets.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year of related experience

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
