The Emory Comprehensive Lung Center is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Director to develop, lead and expand our integrated, multidisciplinary program for the diagnosis, management, and research of COPD within the Department of Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care. This is a unique opportunity for a clinician-scientist or academic leader with a strong record in clinical care, program development, and translational or clinical research in COPD. The Director will be responsible for advancing the clinical and academic mission of the institution through fostering innovative clinical programs, mentorship, and promoting impactful research

This position will be housed in the Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine division of the Department of Medicine.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MD with board certification in Pulmonary Disease required; Critical Care certification preferred.

  • Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia.

  • Clinical and academic experience in pulmonary medicine, including significant exposure to complex COPD care.

  • Demonstrated success in program development, clinical innovation, and team leadership.

  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including publications and grant participation.

  • Strong track record of mentorship and teaching.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active research in COPD or related fields, with a history of publications and/or grant funding.

  • National presence in COPD initiatives (e.g., ATS/ERS committees, guideline development, national registries).

  • Experience launching or leading multidisciplinary programs in an academic setting.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
