We care for patients with complex medical needs and co-morbidities, including CHF, NSTEMI, chest pain, coronary artery disease, post-intervention sheath management, COPD, pneumonia or other cardio-respiratory problems, End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), peritoneal dialysis, liver failure, alcohol withdrawal and/or other intoxicants and much more! It's a great place to learn a wide variety of diseases processes and broaden clinical assessment skills. Our unit has a high number of daily admissions, discharges and transfers. South 8 also houses the remote telemetry cock pit which is staffed by specially trained PCAs who learn cardiac rhythm interpretation.
