Job Description

Reports to the Construction Project Director or assigned project leadership. Provides construction planning, coordination and direction on a miscellaneous higher education projects. Responsible for construction management activities on a community college campus. Maintains budget and conducts work product with a high degree of quality, making sure to fulfill the requirements of the contract. This position will include being on the construction site on a daily basis. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides construction project management support for the client to coordinate, direct and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, state and local agencies and other related project entities.
  • Ability to standalone on a construction project and direct the project team.
  • Possesses design-phase, RFQ/P, bidding and construction management experience.
  • Oversees project and program scheduling, estimating, and execution plan support.
  • Has functional knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to construction/project requirements.
  • Ability to review and negotiate change orders.
  • Oversees quality control and quality assurance throughout design and construction phases.
  • Has experience with database project controls software systems.
  • Ensures compliance with contract requirements of contractor, architect, engineer and other team members as applicable
  • Provides project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures support and administration along with regular project reporting.
  • Oversees management of project logistics, organization, and manpower utilization.
  • Evaluates and understands fundamental construction means and methods.
  • Responsible to communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding program, design scope, budget, schedule, and construction impact.
  • Responsible for execution plan including schedule development and management.
  • Ensures project management plan and procedures manuals are developed in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Assumes the lead in project meetings, and supervises work of others to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses, and follow-up on action items of all participants.
  • Oversee monthly contractor payment application reviews.
  • Prepares accident/incident reports and performs follow-up investigations.
  • Ensures project closeout and documentation meets all contractual requirements for final project delivery to owner entities.
  • Consistently follows the organization's safety policy, promoting a positive and collaborative safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree required. Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in technical disciplines such as Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture preferred.
  • 3+ years experience working on DSA public higher education projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of database project controls software systems such as Project Team, Prolog, or similar.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam, Microsoft Office; and experience with project-related Construction Management systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge and application of construction cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices.
  • Construction contract administration.
  • Experience in Shared Governance is preferred.
