Job description

Project Manager – Construction (New York City)

A growing construction team is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects throughout New York City. This role will be responsible for managing all phases of construction, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and overall project plans
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and ownership teams
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contracts, and performance
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Monitor project costs, track changes, and manage change orders
  • Lead project meetings, prepare reports, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with NYC building codes, safety regulations, and project requirements
  • Work closely with field teams to address construction challenges and maintain project progress
  • Oversee permitting, filings, inspections, and project closeout documentation
  • Identify risks and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure a high level of service throughout the project lifecycle
  • Experience managing public-sector work, including projects with the NYC School Construction Authority (SCA), is a plus

Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of experience in construction project management, preferably in NYC
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building systems, and project delivery methods
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency in project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, Bluebeam)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with NYC permitting, compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and subcontractor relationships effectively
