Job Description

We are hiring a Vice President, Business Development - Western Canada who will develop and execute business development strategies to grow the company's activities in alignment with Egis' growth priorities. 

Egis Canada is a forward-thinking organization dedicated to shaping the future. We collaborate with public and private sector partners to deliver impactful projects that drive economic growth, environmental stewardship and social well-being. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Business Development Vice President for Western Canada, covering primarily Alberta and British Columbia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships and driving growth across our portfolio. 

The candidate will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and be responsible for the following:

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities. 
  • Build and maintain strong senior-level relationships with government entities, major clients, developers, and other key stakeholders. 
  • Proactively identify new business opportunities and develop key strategies to secure high-value contracts and expand market presence. 
  • Support the preparation of proposals, tenders, and EOIs by providing strategic input and guidance, while ensuring the execution team maintains ownership of the proposal process and final submission. 
  • Manage the business development pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and effective resource allocation. 
  • Manage Master Service Agreements (MSAs), including actively pursuing call-ups and the MSA.
  • Ensure the CRM data is updated to reflect Clients with which we have MSA/Standing Offer, or Rosters/Source List, or Retainer/Accord Cadre.
  • Provide market intelligence: monitor regulatory changes, client needs, sector trends, and competitor activities to inform strategy. 
  • Collaborate closely with technical, commercial, operations, and delivery teams to craft compelling value propositions, ensuring solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and responsive to client needs. 
  • Mentor, lead, and structure the Business Development team; foster capability building within Business Development functions (pursuit, proposal writing, client management). 
  • Represent Egis externally – participate in conferences, forums, industry associations, and networking to enhance brand visibility and generate leads. 
  • Monitor and report on the progress of the transformation initiatives, providing regular updates to senior leadership. 
  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the transformation process. 
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the transformation journey, ensuring successful delivery of the targeted business plan. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Business, Urban Planning, Environmental Science or related field; master’s degree or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred. 
  • Min 15+ years of progressive experience in business development. 
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Strategically minded, able to think creatively around Egis objectives and design the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals. Capable of driving insight to action. 
  • Passion for sustainability, innovation and shaping the future of cities. 
  • Experience working with government agencies, international organizations or public-private partnerships. 
  • Proven track record of winning large-scale engineering / consultancy projects, preferably in Canada. 
  • Strong understanding of Canadian’s market environment – regulations, standards, government procurement, priorities, and sector drivers. 
  • Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to structure and close deals under complex terms. 
  • Strong business development capability, with demonstrated success in pursuit management and sales strategies. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, working across disciplines (technical, commercial, delivery) in pursuit efforts. 
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience navigating complex government and industry landscapes. 
  • Experience in working in a matrix organization, balancing global alignment with local execution. 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on execution capability; able to balance long-term planning with immediate action. 
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent proficiency in both spoken and written English.
