Core Responsibilities

  • Space Planning & Layout: Assist in developing floor plans that maximize livability, considering human ergonomics, weight distribution, and slide-out functionality.
  • Material Sourcing (CMF): Research and source innovative colors, materials, and finishes (CMF) that are both aesthetically pleasing and lightweight enough for automotive use.
  • Documentation & Visualization: Create 2D drawings and 3D renderings using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks) for design presentations and manufacturing instructions.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Help build and test physical prototypes for custom cabinetry, furniture, and integrated technology.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering and production teams to ensure designs meet safety regulations and manufacturing standards.
  • Library Management: Maintain the physical and digital materials library, organizing samples from furniture and textile vendors. 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a CIDA-accredited Interior Design, Industrial Design, or Architecture program.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCADRevitSketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with 3D rendering tools like Unreal Engine or Twinmotion is often preferred in 2026.
  • Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of color theory, spatial planning, and the durability of textiles/finishes.
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to communicate design rationale to technical engineering teams.
