Job Description

Georgia Tech Professional Education is looking to utilize freelance developers to assist our in-house team in the design, development, testing, and implementation of customized Drupal websites. This includes our primary Drupal Commerce-based site that allows our students to gather information, as well as register and pay for courses.

Work will begin as soon as a qualified candidate is identified and will continue as-needed through June 30, 2016 - the end of our fiscal year. Renewal of this contract for the following fiscal year (or a portion thereof) may be granted at the discretion of the Application Development Manager based on project needs and the availability of funds.

The freelance developer is authorized to bill only for time spent on actual development work, up to 40 hours per week, until such time as the freelance developer's services are terminated by formal/written notification. Any work beyond the 40 hours per week must be pre-authorized in writing by the Application Development Manager, and can be billed at an agreed upon 'overage' rate prior to the start of the contract. Documentation of time spent must be itemized and presented in service invoices. General work hours are 8am-5pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, but flexible work schedules can be arranged with the Application Development Manager.

Project work will include installation, configuration, and creation of Drupal modules. Some onsite work will be required, but a significant amount can be done remotely. Project goal is to provide an e-commerce enabled website that facilitates student registration and payment for Professional Education courses.

Ideal candidate will have several years of experience programming in Drupal 7:

installing, updating, and maintaining modules

planning and developing custom Drupal 7 modules

demonstrated experience and expertise in Drupal Commerce module 

modifying baseline modules to meet client needs

experience with popular Drupal modules such as Feeds, Features, Views, LDAP, Panels

in-depth knowledge of the Drupal hooks system, Form API, Batch API, Entity API, Field API

in addition, solid PHP and MySQL experience are preferred 

Other desired experience to include:

Ability to communicate and work well with others

Apache SOLR search tool

Basic web authoring languages such as XHTML, CSS/SaSS, JavaScript/JQuery, etc.

Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and bug fixing using web services, APIs, XML, REST, SOAP, WSDL, etc. for data exchange and integration

version control (Git)

code testing (unit testing, acceptance testing, TDD, BDD)

ability to write and maintain database stored procedures using MySQL, or SQL Server

application security methodologies
