Job Title:ย ย Autism Support Teacher - Middle School
SUMMARY:
Full time Teacher positions for students who meet Eligibility as a student with Autism. Seeking candidates for Middle School assignments. The Autism Support teacher is responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring the instructional programs for assigned students within a school building.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Provide case management responsibilities for assigned students.
  • Design and provide differentiated instruction based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and other Evidence-based practices.
  • Provide and facilitate access to the school environment.
  • Collaborate with IEP team members and other members of the school community.
  • Monitor and support Para-educators working with assigned students
  • Meet and collaborate with student families.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Keep accurate records as required by District guidelines and State law.
  • Collect and interpret data on student learning and progress.
  • Administer appropriate assessment measures based on student needs and applicable state law.
  • Demonstrate and implement Positive Behavior Support practices.
  • Attend professional development trainings.
  • Develop, collaborate and implement Standards Based IEPs
  • Implement Behavior Support Plans aligned with student needs and respond to student crisis as needed.
  • Participate in IEP Meetings
  • Meet and collaborate with student families

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Delaware Certification as Teacher of students with Autism and Severe Disabilities or certification eligible.
  • Classroom experience teaching students with Autism and Severe Disabilities preferred
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis and other Evidence-based practices.

Required Certificate(s):

  • Initial, Continuing, or Advanced Delawareย Licensure
  • Certified in Core Content
  • Special Education Certification
  • Autism and Severe Disabilities Certification (K-5)
  • Dual Certified in Autism

Building Principal and/or Supervisor of District Autism Services.
