A Day In The Life
The Manager, AI and Application Development leads a team responsible for developing, integrating, and supporting business applications. This role provides people leadership, delivery oversight, and technical direction while partnering with business and IT stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with organizational priorities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of modern application development, integrations, databases, cloud technologies, APIs, and software delivery practices, along with critical hands-on technical experience.

As a Mgr, AI & App Development you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop application development professionals, including performance and career development.
  • Prioritizes work and manage resources across projects, enhancements, production support, and maintenance.
  • Oversee the design, development, integration, implementation, support, lifecycle management, and modernization of business applications.
  • Provides technical direction and ensures solutions adhere to architecture, security, development, integration, data privacy, and operational standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective software development, testing, release, deployment, application health, and production support practices.
  • Partners with business and IT stakeholders, service partners, and contractors to deliver technology solutions, communicate risks and recommendations, and provide leadership during significant incidents, implementations, and releases, including periodic evening or weekend support as required.

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 7-9 years of progressively responsible experience in information technology, application development, application support, systems integration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading, supervising, or managing technical professionals, including responsibility for work assignment, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Experience managing application development and/or application support teams responsible for business-critical technology solutions.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, enhancements, production support activities, and competing business priorities.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders to understand requirements, establish priorities, manage expectations, and deliver technology solutions.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle processes, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, release management, and production support.
  • Experience working within an enterprise technology environment with integrated applications and multiple internal and external systems.
  • Technical experience leading application development professionals and participating in technical discussions, with experience in some of the following preferred but not required at an expert level: * Custom and web application development * APIs and system integration * Integration or middleware platforms * Relational databases * Public cloud platforms and services * Source control practices * Application monitoring and production support * Enterprise application environments * Commercial-off-the-shelf application evaluation and integration
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, performance management, and team development skills.
  • Strong understanding of application development, software engineering, architecture, integrations, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and modern development practices.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including source control, testing, code review, release management, and production support.
  • Ability to evaluate technical recommendations, identify risks and tradeoffs, and facilitate decisions among technical specialists.
  • Strong planning, prioritization, resource management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to translate between business and technical needs and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong vendor and service-partner management skills.
  • Understanding of information security, data privacy, technology risk, and governance within an enterprise environment.
