Job description

Flexible Schedule | Local Team Support | Performance Bonuses

Great Tutors Deserve Great Support

Tutor Doctor Chandler-Gilbert-Ahwatukee is growing, and we’re looking for passionate educators and subject-matter experts who want to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives—without having to manage the business side of tutoring.

Our mission is simple: To help prepare today’s youth to become tomorrow’s successful adults.

Compensation

Base rates: $20–$35 per hour
Up to $40 per hour for select students and assignments

Tutors may also qualify for performance bonuses connected to student satisfaction, reliability and other performance criteria.

You Support Students. We Support You.

At Tutor Doctor, you won’t simply be handed a student’s name and left to figure everything out alone.

Our local team thoughtfully matches tutors and students based on:

  • Subject expertise

  • Teaching style and personality

  • Student goals and learning needs

  • Schedule and availability

  • Preferred travel area

We handle client acquisition, billing, family agreements, scheduling coordination and administrative logistics so you can focus on what you do best: helping students learn, grow and build confidence.

You’ll also receive:

  • Ongoing support from a local team that knows you

  • Training, assessments and instructional resources

  • Guidance when a student needs a different approach

  • Professional autonomy without micromanagement

  • Tutor recognition and appreciation

  • Opportunities to earn performance bonuses

  • The ability to build meaningful, long-term relationships with students

Subjects We’re Recruiting For

We are currently seeking tutors in:

Math — elementary through advanced high school
Reading, writing, and early literacy
Academic coaching and executive function support
Special education and diverse learning needs

Both generalists and tutors with specialized subject expertise are encouraged to apply.

Service Areas

Tutors may work with students in:

  • Chandler

  • Gilbert

  • Ahwatukee

  • Tempe

  • Mesa

  • Phoenix

  • Other East Valley communities

In-home and online tutoring opportunities are available. Tutors can indicate their preferred cities, travel radius, subjects and availability.

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring or working with students with special needs, 504s, and IEPs

  • Strong knowledge in one or more academic subjects

  • Current college enrollment or a completed college degree

  • Experience as a teacher, education professional or subject-matter expert

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles

  • Reliability, professionalism and consistent follow-through

  • Reliable transportation for in-home assignments

  • A genuine passion for education and student success

Teaching credentials, specialized certifications and experience supporting students with unique learning needs are valuable, but not required for every position.
