Job description

For over 30 years Royal Camp Services has been Western Canada's premier remote camp and catering company. We provide catering and hospitality solutions for small camps consisting of just a few clients to major camp projects necessitating hundreds of clients.

Reporting to the training Camp Manager, you are responsible for supporting the camp's operation by maintaining a functional front desk, providing guidance to staff, responding to client concerns, and completing daily camp reports.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Help with all the office duties such as checking clients in and out of rooms, supervising housekeeping staff, and responding to client concerns
  • Complete written dorm evaluations daily and provide training to ensure camp attendants correct all deficiencies
  • Take stock in the commissary at month end, balance sales sheet and make a list of supplies to be ordered
  • Assist the training Camp Manager with:
    • Reviewing, monitoring, and scheduling staff based upon site requirements
    • Coordinating and implementing all paper work required for the complete operations of the camp business, which entails collecting, tracking, logging and forwarding documents for processing
    • Creating and implementing operational training methods for supervisors and field staff
    • Completing staff performance evaluations
    • Liaising between the sub-contract suppliers
    • Ensuring all company policies and procedures are being enforced and adhered to all by field staff and supervisors
  • Administrative tasks: answer phone calls, deal with general inquiries, filing, photocopying, faxing, and electronic ordering
  • Commissary support: including cash in, daily cash, run POS machine, ordering, inventory, and retail management
  • Housekeeping support: complete walk downs, keep track of room availability (ins and outs), and assist in room completion when required
  • Use superior conflict resolution techniques if issues arise among stakeholders
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, complete Field Level Hazard Assessment and Hazard Identifications on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Hospitality management degree or diploma preferred
  • 3-5 years of hospitality experience in a front desk role an asset
  • Must complete 1-3 training rotations working under an experienced Camp Manager
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, and know or be able to learn new databases (Camp Manager, Orissa, and / or Infinity)
  • Must supply your own transportation to our camp transfer sites located in Edmonton, AB and / or Grande Prairie, AB
  • Steel toed non-slip work shoes are required
  • A valid Standard First Aid certification and an Alberta Health Services approved Food Safety Certificate required
  • Proven ability to lead a team, including strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including reading, writing, and speaking English)
  • Must be able to lift, move, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Available to work multiple rotations including but not limited to 21-7 and 14-28
  • Available to work a day shift, afternoon shift, split shift, or night shift
  • Be able to provide at least 2 professional work references
  • Obtain safety and training standards based upon position, contract, and site requirements
