Company Summary

South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is a not-for-profit electric distribution, member-owned cooperative. The cooperative is a leader in distribution technology and is headquartered in a new and progressive facility in Martinsville, Indiana. SCI REMC serves seven counties including Morgan, Monroe, Owen, Brown, Johnson, Putnam and Clay with over 3,650 miles of energized lines and 35,500+ electric members and about 12,500 fiber subscribers. In addition to the core businesses of electric and fiber, SCI employs vegetation management personnel to provide exemplary services to support reliability and member satisfaction.

Position Summary

The GIS Specialist supports effective use and maintenance of GIS, including maintenance of the electric and fiber connectivity model within GIS for use by OMS, map viewer, and engineering software. Collecting and maintaining accurate asset and inventory data in GIS. Ensuring the accuracy and usefulness of the platform data.

Qualifications


Education-- High school diploma or equivalent with experience in GIS, utility infrastructure, or a degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience--Demonstrated digital competency in common office software and the ability to learn and master others. Experience with ESRI mapping products and utility distribution experience is preferred. Knowledge of SCI service area, roads and terrain is also preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to accurately create and maintain records, files and reports which will be used by SCI personnel.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills to identify and correct mapping errors.
  • Must be capable of communicating actively with management, employees, members, personnel from other organizations, and the public.
  • Must be capable of collecting field data under varying terrain conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to assist during storms and large outages, as needed.
  • Must be regular in work attendance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
