The Associate, Data Center Operations is responsible for the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of critical data center infrastructure. This role supports high-availability environments by operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and control systems, while collaborating with internal teams and third-party vendors to mitigate risk, resolve issues, and continuously improve operational performance. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager - Technology Operations Support.
Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain data center systems including, but not limited to the following:
    • Building Automation and Management Systems (BAS/BMS)
    • Mechanical systems (chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, compressors)
    • Electrical distribution systems (medium and low voltage)
    • Diesel generators and fuel systems
    • UPS systems and battery plants
    • Fire/life safety systems
  • Perform routine preventive/corrective maintenance, and performance testing on data center infrastructure.
  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Engineering & Problem Resolution
  • Apply knowledge to resolve issues using manufacturer manuals, engineered drawings, schematics, and documentation.
  • Analyze system failures for trends and root causes; develop risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Use data capture and diagnostic tools to analyze system performance and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Seek opportunities to improve efficiency and reliability through changes in operational characteristics.

Vendor & Customer Collaboration
  • Coordinate and lead third-party vendors during maintenance, repair, and project activities.
  • Proactively communicate data center availability risks and operational concerns to DCI leadership.

Training & Compliance
  • Participate in required on-site classroom, hands-on, and recertification training programs.

Availability & Support
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation supporting critical incident response
  • Role schedule will be day shift and/or night shift, including weekends, and may be temporarily adjusted to support operations
  • Work schedules are subject to change to support shift requirements and/or business demands/needs

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • College, vocational or trade school certification, or equivalent schooling in a related field (mechanical, electrical, electronics, data center operations).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of journeyman-level electrical or equivalent mechanical experience.
  • Experience working in critical environments with strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
