Job description

The Old Globe is pleased to announce fall stage management apprentice positions for the 2026 season.

The application period for the following 2026 stage management apprenticeship opportunities is now open:

  • Fall 2026 Apprenticeships:
    • 9/30/26 until 11/19/26 (How the Grinch Stole Christmas! โ€“ one position available โ€“ seeking bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates)
    • 9/25/26 until 10/29/26 (Globe For All - one position available)

Applications for these apprenticeships will close on July 1, 2026

Academic Credit
If you wish to receive academic credit, it is your responsibility to coordinate class credit with your school. The Old Globe will be happy to cooperate with your institution to complete any necessary paperwork.ย  Current enrollment in an academic program is not a prerequisite for this program.

Compensation
Stage management apprenticeships will be paid a non-exempt hourly rate of $17.75/hour (or San Diego minimum wage). Additionally, apprentices will be considered company members and will receive perks such as complimentary tickets and free entrance to Balboa Park attractions.

Applicants should have a strong interest in professional stage management. Apprentices will work alongside AEA stage managers throughout all aspects of the rehearsal process. Apprentices will be involved in daily rehearsals, technical rehearsals, production meetings, and understudy rehearsals. There will be opportunities to observe the calling of shows, backstage operations, etc. The Old Globe is one of the countryโ€™s finest regional theatres, attracting nationally known actors, directors, and designers. The stage management apprenticeship is a full-time commitment, 5 to 6 days a week. Apprenticeship lengths vary so please see detailed listings above. Candidates should be at least 18 years old at the start of the apprenticeship.
