They work with MFT software, scripting, and encryption methods to safeguard sensitive data. Additionally, they collaborate with IT teams to optimize file transfer workflows and mitigate potential risks.

What's the best managed file transfer tool for software firms?

For a Managed File Transfer (MFT) professional, popular tools include Globalscape EFT, Ipswitch MOVEit, and IBM Sterling, which offer secure, automated, and compliant file transfer solutions suitable for software firms. Selecting the best tool depends on specific security requirements, integration needs, and scalability considerations.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in Managed File Transfer?

Professionals in Managed File Transfer are responsible for configuring, monitoring, and maintaining secure data exchange processes between internal teams and external partners. Daily tasks often include troubleshooting transfer failures, managing user access permissions, ensuring compliance with data security policies, and optimizing system performance. You may also collaborate closely with IT security, application developers, and business stakeholders to support new integration projects or resolve incidents. This role requires proactive problem-solving and regular documentation to keep workflows running smoothly and securely.

What is an example of a managed file transfer?

A managed file transfer (MFT) example is using a secure transfer protocol like SFTP or FTPS to automate and monitor the secure exchange of large files between organizations. MFT solutions often include features such as encryption, audit trails, and scheduled transfers, supporting compliance and data integrity in the job role. These tools are commonly used by professionals to ensure reliable and secure data movement across networks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Managed File Transfer position, and why are they important?

To excel in a Managed File Transfer (MFT) role, you need expertise in data integration, secure file transfer protocols, and understanding of compliance requirements, usually supported by experience in IT or computer science. Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically-minded Business Systems Analyst to play a pivotal role in our enterprise-wide platform modernization. You will be the bridge between our current state-a robust but tightly coupled TIBCO-based MDD (Managed Data Delivery) environment-and a future-state architecture designed for modularity, cloud-readiness, and high-velocity operations.
Your mission is to translate complex technical dependencies into actionable requirements that ensure we decouple our systems without disrupting critical SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Engineering: Elicit, analyze, and document comprehensive business and technical requirements. You will translate legacy TIBCO Business Works workflows and MFT configurations into modern, technology-agnostic functional specifications.
  • Gap & Dependency Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analysis of the existing "as-is" environment to identify tight couplings and proprietary dependencies. Map these to "to-be" microservices or modular architectural patterns.
  • Stakeholder Orchestration: Act as the primary liaison between Business Operations, Enterprise Architecture, and DevOps teams to ensure the modernization roadmap aligns with operational reality and strict performance SLAs.
  • SLA & Performance Mapping: Define and document non-functional requirements, ensuring that the modernized platform meets or exceeds current throughput, latency, and reliability benchmarks.
  • UAT & Validation: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) efforts, defining test cases that validate functional parity between the legacy TIBCO environment and the new platform.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 9+ years as a Business Systems Analyst, with a proven track record in middleware or integration modernization projects.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong understanding of integration patterns and experience working with TIBCO (BusinessWorks/MFT) or similar enterprise service bus (ESB) technologies.
  • Systems Thinking: Ability to deconstruct monolithic or tightly coupled systems into modular, scalable components.
  • Agile Proficiency: Expert at writing high-quality User Stories, maintaining backlogs in Jira/Azure DevOps, and participating in Sprint ceremonies.
  • Data Driven: Proficient in SQL and data mapping to ensure data integrity during platform transitions.

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience with Cloud Migration or Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of modern MFT (Managed File Transfer) alternatives and API Gateway management.
  • Background in financial services or industries with high-compliance/low-latency requirements.
    Compensation, Benefits and Duration
    Minimum Compensation: USD 38,000
    Maximum Compensation: USD 135,000
Compensation is based on actual experience and qualifications of the candidate. The above is a reasonable and a good faith estimate for the role.
Medical, vision, and dental benefits, 401k retirement plan, variable pay/incentives, paid time off, and paid holidays are available for full time employees.
This position is not available for independent contractors
No applications will be considered if received more than 120 days after the date of this post
