Job description

Childrenโ€™s Diabetes Foundation is looking for a Major Gifts Officer to be a key member of the Development Team. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying, soliciting, and cultivating major donors throughout Colorado and beyond. They will be responsible for growing the organizationโ€™s major donor base with a goal of raising $1 million per year with a portfolio of up to 125 donor relationships.

This is an in-person, full-time position based out of Aurora, CO.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 100125 major donor prospects
  • Develop and execute strategies to engage, cultivate, solicit, retain, and reengage lapsed donors
  • Design and implement a comprehensive majorโ€ฏgiftsโ€ฏprogram.
  • Generate gift strategies and proposals aligned with top fundraising priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead multimilliondollar campaigns through campaign development and execution
  • Travel for facetoface cultivation and solicitation meetings with existing and prospective donors
  • Research, identify, and solicit new donor prospects to expand donor pool across the nation
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records in CRM and oversee moves management tools
  • Work collaboratively and provide regular updates to the development team
  • Support the Executive Director in major donor meetings by providing customized giving opportunities to each donor
  • KEY PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
  • Meet quarterly outreach activity goals and grow yearly fundraising goal to $1 million+
  • Raise significant institutional support for the network to sustain and grow, especially in new regions
  • Execute private donor events successfully by meeting established fundraising and event goals
  • KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required minimum of 5+ years of major gifts fundraising experience with demonstrated growth in yearly fundraising dollars received
  • Proven ability to communicate value and close donor gifts over 6digits
  • Demonstrated experience leading multimillion dollar campaigns
  • Well versed in alternative donation methods (such as appreciated assets/securities, personal property, real estate, DAFs, etc.) and fluent in explaining options to donors
  • Total personal alignment with our mission and vision and commitment to our core values
  • Outgoing and relational; strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and donors
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation abilities
  • Adept in managing multiple projects and competing priorities
  • High degree of organization and excellent use of systems
  • Experience with donor CRM, preferably Raiserโ€™s Edge
  • Achievementoriented, have a great deal of stamina to work hard, and take satisfaction from being productive.
  • Ability to travel 5075% of the time (including locally)
