Job Overview
Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficient) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and basic electrical work.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Performs a variety of duties involving the installation and/or repairs basic electrical equipment, painting, plumbing, carpentry and/or masonry, but not to proficiency.
  • Assists other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations.
  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.
  • Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
  • Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Valid State driver's license
  • Possess an OSHA 10 card or have the ability to get one within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building or comparable experience.
  • Must be able to comprehend, read, speak and write fluently in the English language.
  • Working knowledge (less than Journeyman) in carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, and basic electrical.
  • Employees must furnish their own hand tools.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.

Preferred:
  • Three years' work experience in O&M services supporting a military base or civilian installation.
  • High school diploma

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions
  • Work hours are subject to change, with overtime work as needed
  • Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust odors and elevated noise levels
  • Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces
  • Willing to work shift work.

Physical Requirements:
  • Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds and walkways.
  • Must be able to complete assigned tasks in high or confined spaces.
