Job description


Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance team to ensure maximum up time of production equipment used in automotive seating manufacturing. This role oversees preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities, with a strong focus on PLC-controlled systems, automation, and SAP-based maintenance processes (PM/CM). Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Essential functions of the job:
  • Supervise a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Assign daily work priorities and ensure timely resolution of equipment issues.
  • Train and mentor technicians on troubleshooting, safety procedures, and system usage, including SAP PM transactions.
  • Ensure maintenance activities support production targets and quality requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair of equipment including PLC-controlled systems (Allen-Bradley preferred), conveyors, robotics, welding cells, foam equipment, sewing/trim assembly stations, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Review fault codes, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Minimize downtime through proactive problem-solving and standardized troubleshooting practices.
  • Modify and troubleshoot PLC logic (AB ControlLogix, CompactLogix).
  • Support automation upgrades, controls improvements, and integration projects.
  • Coordinate with engineering on process improvements and line optimization.
  • Manage maintenance activities through SAP PM (Plant Maintenance).
  • Create, review, and close work orders for corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain equipment, master data, BOMs, and task lists.
  • Review maintenance history and analyze SAP data for downtime reduction and planning.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and timely SAP updates by the maintenance team.
  • Implement and manage PM/TPM programs through SAP.
  • Ensure PM compliance and continuous improvement of preventive routines.
  • Maintain accurate digital records of maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets OSHA and plant safety standards.
  • Lead LOTO compliance, machine guarding inspections, and safe work practices.
  • Support internal and external audits for safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory levels and procurement through SAP.
  • Coordinate with contractors and OEMs for repairs, upgrades, and service agreements.

Required Education/Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in automotive manufacturing; seating experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting experience required.
  • SAP PM experience required (work orders, notifications, PM schedules, spare parts).
  • Skilled in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with robotics is preferred.
  • Ability to read schematics and PLC ladder logic.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems, preferably SAP.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
