Job description

Join Barminco and help launch the exciting new Fourmile Project near Elko, Nevada! Great compensation working 50% of the time!

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Foreman to lead the maintenance team and ensure equipment maintenance and servicing are completed safely and efficiently to maximize equipment availability.

During the mobilization phase (appox. four to five months), you will work a flexible schedule in an office setting in Elko, Nevada, assisting with the mobilizaiton of the project. Once the role transitions on-site to the Fourmile project, you will move to an equal-time roster of 14 days on followed by 14 days off.

Initial Location: Elko, Nevada, transitioning to the Fourmile Project
Initial Schedule: Four days on, three days off / 5 days on, 2 days off / 8 days on, 6 days off - schedule will vary depending on project needs
Initial Accomodation: Town based, coordinated by Barminco
Site Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off
Site Accommodation: Camp, meals and transportation from the designated muster point provided
Site Transportation: Charter transportation from muster point. Camp and meals provided.

Job Title: Maintenance Foreman

The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services USA Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an Maintenance Foreman to join our team. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for working within the mobile maintenance department, this will provide supervision, oversight and a safe working environment to the on-site maintenance team. You will ensure planned maintenance and servicing of site mobile equipment is carried out efficiently and safely using sound judgement to meet the objective of maximizing production capability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance Department performance including safety, quality, and equipment performance against Barminco standards.
  • Develop and maintain a positive safety, quality, and performance culture within the maintenance department consistent with the purpose, ambition, and core values of Barminco.
  • Provide clear leadership and standards across the Maintenance department through visual leadership behaviors, clear communication to crew leaders and work teams.
  • Ensure that required capability, processes and strong support are in place to enable completion of high-quality incident investigations, to identify and prevent recurrence of incidents and improve safety leadership and culture within the maintenance department at the mine site.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the site leadership team including the Maintenance Foreman, Maintenance Planners, and leading hands (or any combination of roles in the maintenance leadership team for the project).
  • Utilize Barminco management systems and tools to monitor and manage performance measures to ensure that equipment performance meets or exceeds expectations of the client and Barminco.
  • Identify, develop, implement, and monitor action plans to ensure that expectations and performance measures are met or exceeded in cases where performance variance occurs.

  • Identify and escalate issues to Barminco senior leadership where they cannot be effectively managed at site or where further support is required.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Barminco maintenance management systems in line with our ambition to become the worlds leading underground hard rock mining service provider.
  • Be the designated Barminco company representative for all maintenance related issues at a site level, including equipment availability, safety performance, people management and costs.
  • Ensure that all maintenance department and equipment information, data and correspondence is managed professionally, effectively and in accordance with Barminco management systems.
  • Provide leadership and career development support for employees who report to the site maintenance dept leadership.
  • Provide support to the Maintenance Leadership Team and fellow Maintenance Superintendents through effective sharing of knowledge, information, data, and resources as and when appropriate.
  • Work closely with central support teams (safety and people, asset management, supply, technology and innovation, information technology) in developing and implementing programs to deliver safety, cost, quality and efficiency improvements to the project and to Barminco.
  • Provide timely and accurate Maintenance reporting and Forecast budget spend.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of at least 10 years Underground Mining Experience, specifically within the high-speed, high production environment
  • Extensive knowledge of Barminco Jumbo operations and full scope utilization for high-speed development equipment, including installation of ground support, to ensure proper break-fix solutions and proper preventative maintenance cycles required.
  • Full comprehension of Sandvik error codes in equipment operating systems to reduce down-time and productivity loses for diagnostic research.
  • Strong interpersonal, management and communication skills.
  • Extensive experience working as a Maintenance superintendent within an underground mining environment and involvement with earthmoving machinery including makes such as CAT and Sandvik
  • Strong credibility in a working with and influencing a front line operational workforce
  • Strong understanding of capability in a safety culture and leadership concepts and practical application of risk assessment; hazard identification and controls; and incident management and investigation
  • High level of integrity
  • Strong safety focus with demonstrated evidence of actively promoting and sustaining a Zero harm environment

Work Conditions:

  • Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 14-days on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 14-days off – working holidays as they fall within the rotation
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
