Summary of Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic performs mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production, packaging, physical plant and warehouse equipment including heating and refrigeration systems, conveyors, motors, and related components.

Location: 85W Army Trail Road, Glendale Heights (New Facility)

Schedule: 5-day work week/ Sunday - Thursday

Shift: 2nd Shift/ 2:00-10:30pm

Overtime: Voluntary OT is available

Tool Allowance: $1,000 annual allowance paid out quarterly

Call In Premium: Minimum of 4 hours pay, plus an additional $150.00

Weekend Workday Bonus: $75 bonus credit for each Saturday or Sunday you work, paid out annually.

Sign-on Bonus: $3,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with production and maintenance management and personnel to identify and communicate areas of concern, critical information for analysis, and actions taken.
  • Use computerized maintenance management system, MVP One, to access and disposition preventative maintenance schedule and work orders, and log corrective maintenance actions.
  • Complete daily inspections, routine adjustments, assigned preventative maintenance tasks, and emergency repairs of building, production equipment, and systems. Identify and correct deficiencies to the asset and to the preventive maintenance instruction sets and frequencies.
  • Install new electrical and mechanical equipment as directed.
  • Perform electrical repairs and troubleshoot for the following: PLC controls, AC & DC motor controls, solid state motor controls, advance circuits, and grounding, interpret diagrams and test equipment.
  • Maintain facility utilities including wastewater equipment, compressed air, refrigeration, boilers, and building safety equipment.
  • Read schematics, drawings, and manuals to establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Maintain organized documentation, inspection records, etc.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts inventory.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at job site and in shop.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be on time as scheduled and highly reliable in attendance.
  • Assist in training of others.
  • Comply with all safety, security, sanitation and food safety requirements including safe work practices, OSHA requirements, and GMP's when in production areas.
  • Report all safety, food safety or quality issues to supervisor or Food Safety department.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Desired Technical Skill Requirements

  • Electrical: 110 480V, AC & DC control, wiring & ladder diagrams, inverter programming, trouble shooting.
  • Welding: gas, arc, mig, tig, steel, brass, aluminum, stainless, cast iron, and plasma cutting.
  • Heating and refrigeration: freezers, coolers, water chillers, air conditioners, gas fired heating systems, boilers, water heaters, and heat exchangers.

Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of related industrial maintenance experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the internet, manufacturing, and preventative maintenance software.
  • Able to trouble shoot malfunctions, solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of variables under time constraints and pressure to restore operations.
  • Able to read, interpret and comprehend a variety of complex work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and technical manuals furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Able to do basic math and apply concepts of algebra and geometry as may be required.
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally through questioning, listening, speaking and writing.
  • Demonstrates sound and accurate judgment.
  • Uses time efficiently. Plans repairs and installations to be sure parts are available when needed.

Compensation estimates are provided in good faith at the time of job posting. Job offers may vary based on the candidates education, certifications, job-related knowledge, skill, experience, geographic location, shift, and internal equity. Clydes may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

  • Target Hourly Wage: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
  • Position is eligible for annual bonus
