A Maintenance Manager oversees the upkeep and repair of facilities, equipment, and machinery within an organization. They are responsible for developing maintenance schedules, managing a team of technicians, ensuring safety standards are met, and coordinating with other departments for efficient operations. The role also involves budgeting, sourcing parts and supplies, and implementing preventive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime. Maintenance Managers play a key role in ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and efficiently, helping to prevent costly breakdowns and prolonging the lifespan of assets.

What are some typical challenges a maintenance manager might face when leading a diverse team?

Maintenance Managers often supervise teams with varying skill levels and specialties, such as electricians, mechanics, and HVAC technicians. Who We Are

We are an industry-leading agricultural pioneer and the nation's premier grower and supplier of specialty produce, operating out of San Marcos, California. Known widely across the fine-dining and culinary world as "The Chef's Toolbox," our rapid growth and reputation are built on a foundation of rigorous food safety standards, including GFSI certifications and USDA-aligned audits.

  • Keep Things Running: Oversee preventive maintenance programs, manage work orders, and utilize our CMMS to track equipment history.

  • Fix What Breaks: Jump in fast during emergency repairs to minimize downtime and keep operations moving.

  • Manage Projects: Handle equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and vendor/contractor coordination.

  • Keep Order: Manage spare parts, tools, maintenance inventory, and purchasing.

  • Safety First: Ensure all safety rules are followed, investigate any workplace incidents, and keep the floor running safe and compliant.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 3+ years managing maintenance operations and leading technical teams in industrial, manufacturing, or agricultural settings.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Technical Skills: Strong background in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems.

  • Facility Repair: Solid hands-on knowledge of building construction, tools, and equipment repair.

  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and fix complex machinery quickly under time-sensitive conditions.

  • Leadership & Training: Proven track record of mentoring, training, and setting a strong work ethic.

  • Safety: Capable of enforcing safety protocols, investigating incidents, and preparing reports.

  • 401k with 4% employer match
  • PTO
  • Life and disability insurance
