What is a weekend maintenance?

A Weekend Maintenance job involves performing routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance on equipment or facilities during weekends. Responsibilities may include troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring systems operate efficiently. These roles are common in manufacturing plants, hotels, hospitals, or other facilities that require continuous operation. Weekend Maintenance workers help prevent breakdowns, minimize downtime, and keep operations running smoothly outside regular weekday shifts.

What are the responsibilities of a weekend maintenance?

During a typical weekend shift, you can expect to handle a variety of tasks including performing routine inspections, addressing urgent repair requests, and conducting preventative maintenance on essential systems. You may also be responsible for ensuring that public or high-traffic areas remain clean and well-functioning, promptly responding to any facility emergencies, and documenting completed work. Weekend maintenance often involves more independent work due to reduced onsite staff, but you’ll still collaborate with supervisors and occasionally coordinate with other departments as needed. Job description

We're looking for a hands-on Network Deployment Engineer who can stage, install, configure, and commission Juniper EX4400 Series switches using the Juniper Mist cloud platform — including migrations from existing Cisco environments — and leave every site fully operational and properly documented.

What you'll do:
  • Stage, rack, install, configure, and validate Juniper EX4400 Series switches at customer sites.
  • Onboard, configure, and manage switches through the Juniper Mist cloud platform.
  • Translate existing Cisco configurations into Junos and Mist equivalents; migrate legacy environments with minimal disruption.
  • Validate VLANs, trunks, PoE, uplinks, link aggregation, spanning tree, and management connectivity.
  • Install and validate copper and fiber uplinks, SFP transceivers, patch cables, and related components.
  • Confirm connected devices — wireless APs, cameras, access control, phones, workstations — return to service post-migration.
  • Coordinate maintenance windows and cutovers with remote engineers, project managers, and customer stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, configuration, cabling, power, and interoperability issues in the field.
  • Complete post-installation testing, photographs, asset records, port documentation, and site acceptance checklists within required timeframes.
  • Back up and document existing configurations before any equipment replacement.

Required qualifications:
  • 2+ years of hands-on enterprise switch installation and configuration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Juniper EX Series switches, preferably EX4400.
  • Hands-on Juniper Mist experience — device onboarding, configuration templates, port profiles, switch monitoring, and software management.
  • Working knowledge of Junos OS and the Junos CLI.
  • Experience installing or migrating within legacy Cisco Catalyst environments; ability to read Cisco IOS configurations.
  • Strong command of VLANs, 802.1Q trunking, STP, LACP, PoE, Layer 2/3 switching, DHCP/DNS dependencies.
  • Experience with SFP/SFP+ transceivers, fiber and copper Ethernet standards.
  • Comfortable executing network cutovers during scheduled maintenance windows, independently and under time pressure.
  • Able and willing to travel extensively, including overnight, evening, and occasional weekend work.
  • Valid driver's license; able to meet government site access requirements; able to lift ~50 lbs.

Preferred qualifications:
  • JNCIA-Junos or Juniper Mist certification.
  • CCNA or equivalent Cisco switching experience.
  • Experience migrating Cisco Catalyst 2960, 3560, 3650, 3750, 3850, or 4500 environments to Juniper.
  • Familiarity with Mist configuration templates, switch profiles, site assignments, and firmware deployment.
  • Experience supporting networks carrying physical-security, IoT, voice, wireless, or building-system traffic.
  • Familiarity with structured cabling, fiber testing, UPS systems, and network closet standards.
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or comparable certifications.
  • Prior experience in government, education, healthcare, or other distributed enterprise environments.

Travel:
This role requires substantial nationwide travel — air and ground, multi-day deployments, occupied facilities, and active network environments. Evening and weekend maintenance windows are part of the work. Consecutive deployment assignments are expected during peak program periods. All travel expenses are covered per company travel policy.

What we offer:
  • Competitive compensation — full-time, contract, or project-based depending on experience.
  • All travel and expenses covered.
  • Direct working relationship with company leadership.
  • Meaningful work on a large-scale federal program with a tight, experienced team.
