Job Summary: 

Plan and coordinate activities of Maintenance personnel to maximize equipment operating time.  Coordinate environmental, safety, and health requirements mandated by Federal, State, City and County to ensure compliance with all.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor preventative maintenance system to ensure effectiveness at minimizing equipment downtime without wasting resources.
  • Responsible for direction of Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Techs on all shifts to assure safe, efficient and productive manufacturing environment.
  • Responsible for discipline, training, safety and welfare of maintenance employees.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality of maintenance activities.
  • Review reports and manage KPI goal.
  • Conduct self in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Assign maintenance work orders to Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Techs, and tool room personnel.
  • Assist Supervisor with monitoring of the plant floor maintenance activities.
  • Attend daily production meetings.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel.
  • Assess skills and capabilities of maintenance personnel.  Recommend, provide and monitor training as necessary.
  • Manage Trainee Program and work with Moraine Valley College for course part of trainees.
  • Recruit new employees as needed through tech school, Aerotek, etc.
  • Communicate with maintenance employees on all shifts.
  • Instruct and enforce plant safety rules and OSHA standards.  Report safety hazards to Plant Engineer and Plant Manager.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to equipment, tooling and processes.
  • Oversee Maintenance Tool Crib inventory and work with Plant Engineer to assure proper inventory levels of spare parts and production tooling.
  • Manage all environmental, safety, and health permits and licenses as required by Federal, State, City and Cook County as identified on Plant SOP index.
  • Manage all parts washers and required paperwork trail.
  • Manage all waste streams to ensure proper disposal.
  • Manage Hazardous Waste manual and NPDES storm water manual.
  • Manage LOTO, Confined Space and Electrical Safety procedures.
  • Respond to all emergency situations that may arise.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree preferred and minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience.
