Job description

Quanex is looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our team located onsite in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The Plant Engineering Maintenance Manager leads the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of all maintenance and asset reliability activities within a cabinet manufacturing operation. This role is accountable for maximizing equipment uptime, improving OEE, reducing unplanned downtime, and extending asset life through disciplined preventive and predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and strong people leadership. The Maintenance & Reliability Manager partners closely with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Supply Chain to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, hours may vary depending on business needs and will be discussed during interview.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Own plant-level asset reliability strategy, ensuring high availability of critical production equipment.
  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives targeting OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and schedule attainment.
  • Implement disciplined maintenance planning and scheduling, coordinating closely with Production to optimize downtime.
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians, electricians, contractors, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, NFPA, and environmental requirements, with particular emphasis on LOTO, machine guarding, and combustible dust controls.
  • Own the maintenance budget, balancing cost control with asset risk and uptime requirements.
  • Provide maintenance and reliability leadership for the new equipment installations, line expansions, and automation projects.

Your Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Reliability Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing maintenance and reliability, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems within industrial manufacturing.
  • Proven experience improving equipment uptime, OEE, and maintenance cost performance.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS implementation or optimization.

Preferred

  • Experience in cabinet, furniture, wood products, or panel processing manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with CNC woodworking equipment, finishing systems, and dust collection.
  • TPM, CMRP, Six Sigma, or Lean certifications.
  • Experience leading multi-site reliability initiatives.

Salary: $105K- $125K annually, with bonus potential.
