Job description

Maintenance Technician 1 1st Shift

We are seeking a dependable, motivated, and team-oriented Maintenance Technician to work in our plant. This position is responsible for maintaining a variety of different machines, equipment & forklifts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, mechanical aptitude, and a team first mindset, take initiative and own their work, while communicating with respect.

We believe in building a strong team environment where employees support one another, take pride in and responsibility for their work. Successful team members are motivated to work hard and learn, be respectful with a team focus. Productivity expectations are part of the job and we give people the time to train, learn and develop skills to be successful.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Schedule and/or perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Keep a list of assets and maintenance records.
  • Schedule and/or performing routine maintenance on a variety of forklifts.
  • Keep and maintain an inventory of repair parts, tools, and industrial lubricants and supplies.
  • Email and keep maintenance managers at other locations informed of critical breakdowns report workorder completions.
  • Safety knowledge and lock out tag out procedures.
  • Trouble shooting of equipment breakdowns with operators.
  • Some travel maybe required.
  • Communicate with operators, management, and others on plans.
  • Project planning for large maintenance projects and schedule with needed outside support.
  • Keep a good working relationship with Vendors and Technical Support Programs.
  • Aid in or take initiative with construction projects in the plant.
  • Intermediate welding knowledge & ability.
  • Willingness to learn and operate machinery when needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED; secondary education preferred.
  • Reliable transportation, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Familiar with managing inventory & assets without a formal computer system.
  • Some knowledge of electrical and PLC systems is helpful.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanically powered drive systems.
  • Capable of reading schematics with the ability to learn through computer and manuals with over the phone technical support.
  • Project planning ability.
  • Some welding knowledge and ability helpful.
  • Ability to work on your feet for 80% of the day.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 - 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to work independently but contribute to team accomplishments.
  • Strong attention to details.
  • Ability to work 6:00am 2:00pm with flexibility to work later in the afternoon.
