Job description

The Facilities Supervisor provides day-to-day leadership and direction for the Facilities team responsible for maintaining and repairing production and facility equipment. This role ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently to support production line goals and objectives, with a focus on preventive maintenance, effective troubleshooting, work prioritization, team development, and timely completion of maintenance activities.
Essential Job Duties
  • Team Leadership & Supervision: Provide daily direction, coaching, and oversight to Facilities Technicians; assign work based on production priorities, technician skills, and business needs.
  • Work Planning & Prioritization: Coordinate scheduled, preventive, and emergency maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Oversee and participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of production machinery and plant facility equipment.
  • Repairs & Troubleshooting: Lead response to scheduled and emergency repairs; assist technicians with complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Technical Support: Utilize and provide guidance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Manual & Documentation Interpretation: Ensure equipment manuals, work orders, maintenance records, and other technical documentation are properly interpreted and used to complete work.
  • Diagnostics & Adjustment: Oversee diagnosis of equipment problems, replacement or repair of parts, equipment testing, and necessary adjustments.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Ensure preventive maintenance programs are completed accurately and on schedule for machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Promote and enforce safe work practices, applicable safety regulations, housekeeping standards, and required facility procedures.
  • Quality & Reliability: Identify recurring equipment issues, recommend corrective actions, and work with appropriate personnel to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Parts, Tools & Equipment: Help maintain appropriate inventory of parts, tools, and maintenance equipment and ensure they are used and maintained properly.
  • Communication & Coordination: Communicate maintenance priorities, equipment status, downtime concerns, and work completion to Facilities leadership, production, and other relevant departments.
  • Team Development: Train, mentor, and develop Facilities Technicians to improve technical capabilities, safety awareness, and overall team performance.
  • Performance & Accountability: Monitor work quality, productivity, attendance, and completion of assigned maintenance activities; provide feedback and escalate performance concerns as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications
  • Strong electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial maintenance skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and coordinate maintenance personnel.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-driven with a results-oriented approach and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Prior experience supervising or leading a maintenance/facilities team.
  • Ability to speak and understand Spanish.
  • Prior experience working in a GMP/FDA regulated facility.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day.

Supervisory Responsibility Provides direct supervision and daily leadership to Facilities Technicians. Responsible for work assignment, scheduling and prioritization, coaching and training, performance feedback, safety compliance, and coordination of maintenance activities.
Work Environment
  • This role operates in a warehouse/manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent exposure to allergens (such as peanuts), odors, fumes, dust or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Loud noise levels and temperature variations based on weather conditions.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • Full-time, hourly position.
  • Shifts are 10 hours, four days per week or 8 hours, 5 days per week.
  • Hours may need adjustment based on production needs.

Occasional travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma and applicable facilities/maintenance experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Prior supervisory or team-lead experience in a maintenance or facilities environment; experience working in a GMP/FDA regulated facility.
