Overview of Position:

At Appellation Healdsburg, we are committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences, and our facilities play a vital role in that mission. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Engineer to support the day-to-day operations of our maintenance department. This role is ideal for individuals with prior hotel engineering experience or a strong background in general maintenance across various trades.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct skilled maintenance and repair tasks in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems throughout the property
  • Respond quickly to guest and staff service requests while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and customer service
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and prolong equipment life
  • Monitor building systems and recommend repairs or upgrades as needed
  • Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with local building codes and hotel brand requirements
  • Mentor junior team members and assist with on-the-job training when needed
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and materials; report usage or shortages

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred
  • 1โ€“3 years experience in hotel engineering or 3โ€“5 years in general maintenance, construction, or facilities repairs
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and perform physical labor as needed
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours emergencies

Essential Functions:

To perform the duties and requirements for this job, you must have the following physical abilities:

  • Sit and stand for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs
  • Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment, and use telephone
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids

You must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach; lift and carry equipment and supplies; walking daily up and down the stairs and sitting for periods up to 4 hours and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with or without reasonable accommodations.
