Job description

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Maintenance Assistant for a hotel based in McLean, VA. In this role, you will support daily facility upkeep, assist with general maintenance tasks, and help ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff.
Pay Rate
$18.00 per hour
Schedule and Hours
As needed; flexible schedule including weekdays and weekends.
Maintenance Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
  • Take out trash from guest areas, common areas, and designated collection points every morning.
  • Assist with routine building maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Perform basic repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and completing minor touch-up work.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of hotel grounds, walkways, and common areas.
  • Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
  • Assist with room inspections and preparation as needed.
  • Support housekeeping and hotel staff with facility-related needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly use maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and equipment as required.
Maintenance Assistant Qualifications and Requirements
  • Previous maintenance, janitorial, groundskeeping, or related experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
