Manager Maintenance Engineering
As Manager of Maintenance Engineering, you'll lead one of the site's most critical functions by setting the standard for reliability, safety, and technical leadership in a complex, high-output manufacturing environment. In this role, you will:
  • Lead the maintenance engineering function, setting strategy and standards for asset reliability, preventive maintenance, and technical problem-solving across the plant
  • Own the site maintenance budget, including labor, MRO spend, and capital-related maintenance initiatives; drive cost discipline without compromising equipment reliability
  • Develop and execute reliability improvement plans using RM, RCM, FMEA, and root cause analysis to reduce unplanned downtime and chronic equipment losses
  • Partner with Operations to align maintenance strategies with production schedules and business priorities, ensuring consistent delivery against safety, quality, and service goals
  • Provide functional leadership to maintenance engineers, planners, and technical specialists; build bench strength through coaching, capability development, and succession planning
  • Lead the technical evaluation, installation, and sustainment of new equipment and capital projects to ensure long-term maintainability and reliability
  • Ensure maintenance activities meet Abbott, regulatory, and food safety requirements (OSHA, FDA, GMP), with a strong focus on safe work practices and risk mitigation
  • Champion continuous improvement through standard work, CMMS optimization, predictive maintenance technologies, and data-driven decision-making
  • Serve as a key site leader during breakdowns and critical outages, driving structured response, rapid recovery, and sustainable corrective actions

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Six or more years of engineering, maintenance, or related experience within a manufacturing or quality environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, with prior leadership or functional ownership responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor technical and engineering staff through influence and subject matter expertise
  • Proven capability to operate independently within a broad scope of responsibility while managing multiple priorities and aggressive timelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to build and sustain strong professional relationships across operations, engineering, quality, and site leadership
  • Skilled in evaluating complex systems and processes, applying risk-based decision making, and implementing effective, sustainable solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive change both with and without direct authority
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills
