Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Classification: Non-Exempt Full Time

Summary:

Sugar Foods LLC is growing! Our plant in Villa Rica Georgia, located just 25-miles west of Atlanta, has over 600,000 square feet of production and warehousing capacity. We have over 400 employees and are presently looking to add a few more experienced manufacturing maintenance mechanics. Vacancies are available on all three shifts. The maintenance schedule is more clearly defined during the interview process. The Villa Rica plant manufactures a wide variety of food products including but not limited to salad and breakfast toppings (croutons, fruits, nuts, and granola), eco-stick products (sugar, sugar substitutes, salt, and pepper), convenience pouch goods (parmesan cheese and various dip mixes), and canned products (sugar and coffee creamers). Sugar Foods is a privately owned and operated company. We refer to our associates as family members. Sugar Foods family members enjoy competitive wages along with a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities:

  • Practice safe work behaviors in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations. Stop others performing “at risk” behaviors.
  • Utilize Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s),
  • Perform both proaction and reactive maintenance on production and process equipment as needed to support the internal customer.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on equipment and processes.
  • Use personal knowledge and experience to quickly and safely repair equipment and processes.
  • Maintain a clean work area in and around all repair locations. Ensure the shop and surrounding areas are kept clean by the removal of all debris in work areas, work benches, breakrooms, and all production and warehousing areas. Clean up any and all spills.
  • Direct, monitor, and/or assist the activities of contractors working in your assigned area as needed by Engineering.
  • Assist operations with weekly line startups and any scheduled or unscheduled changeovers as needed by your internal customer.
  • Effective communication with the operator(s), production supervisors, and maintenance management regarding repairs being made to down equipment and/or processes.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by management.
  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to initiate, review and sign-off work orders in the system. This includes the documentation of your time and materials used.
  • Provide own tooling to effectively and efficiently perform all troubleshooting and repair of equipment and processes.


Basic Skills:

  • Read and write in English.
  • Effective communication skills,
  • Sugar Foods defines a good mechanic as possessing the following characteristics: analytical, attentive, thorough, organized, energetic, prompt, self-starter, requires little if any direct supervision, and displays a “sense of urgency” responding to customer calls.
  • Able to safely lift up to 40-lbs.
  • Able to work on the production floor 95-percent of your time at work.
  • Able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, body twist and bend, grasping and pinching, and kneeling, squatting, and climbing tasks.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Able to use technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot equipment and processes.
  • Experience with the operation of simple shop equipment (band saws, vertical and horizontal saws, drill press, mills, lathes, grinders, etcetera).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing basic electrical systems and components (starters, switches, potentiometers, fuses, relays, etcetera).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems (inverters, motors, etcetera).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair electronics (level probes, flow meters, RTD’s, etcetera).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems (gears, sprockets, bearings, bushings, seals, chain and belt drives, gearboxes, etcetera).
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems (cylinders, valves, manifolds, pumps, etcetera).
  • Experience with Vertical and/or Horizontal Form Fill and Seal Baggers (Roberts, Bartelt, Hayysen, Woodman, and Ishida) preferred.
  • Experience with high-speed Ropak machines preferred.
  • Experience with high-speed Sanko machines preferred.
  • Experience with case erectors preferred.
  • Experience with case packers preferred.
  • Experience with case tapers preferred.
  • Experience with large, natural gas fired ovens preferred.
  • Experience with large industrial microwave equipment preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing cooling systems (compressors, condensers, evaporators, etcetera) preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, and programming PLC’s preferred.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing servo devices (encoders, motors, etcetera) preferred.
  • Experience MIG and/or TIG welding preferred.
  • Experience with repairing fork lift equipment.


Education and Other Requirements:

  • 18-years or older.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.
  • High School graduate/GED
  • Technical degree and/or schooling preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
