JOB TITLE
Storage Administrator

LOCATIONS
Charlotte, NC or Denver, CO or Iselin, NJ or Remote

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for day-to-day DASD and Backup management on mainframe.
  • Perform trending reports related to DASD management.
  • Define new alias to appropriate catalogs, and update tables when required.
  • Knowledge on how catalogs are created
  • Provide problem resolution associated with JCL, job abends, data retrieval/ recovery and perform root cause analysis.
  • Day-to-day support activities include: volume backup & recovery, data movement, catalog management & maintenance. These activities accomplished through the use of DFHSM, DFSMS, DFDSS, FDR/ABR, CA-Vantage, CA1 or CA-TLMS software. 
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of overall IT experience
  • Understanding of Tape Stacking and Virtualization concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge in controlling, monitoring and maintaining system storage space allocation and availability in Z/OS environment.
  • Experience in testing new or revised system storage related hardware and software products (i.e. DFHSM, DFSMS, DFDSS, FDR/ABR, Open Tech , CA-Vantage, and TLMS software).
  • Practical knowledge identifying appropriate system storage allocation alternatives to internal customers.
  • Extensive knowledge of mainframe base utilities (i.e. JCL, IDCAMS, IBM utilities, ISPF, DFSORT). 
  • Working knowledge of dataset structure and catalog management.
  • Experience working with internal customers in resolving problems associated with JCL, job abends, data retrieval, and recovery. 
  • Strong DASD Management skills and working knowledge of DASD Management Tools (i.e. SMS, FAVER, and CA-Vantage).
  • Experience with tape robotics hardware (3494ATL, TS3500ATL, 3480 Drive, 3490 drive, 3592 drive, TS7740VTS).
  • Experience with mainframe/midrange Tape Management tools (i.e. TLMS, BRMS, and TSM) across platforms.
  • Knowledge of REXX programming language
  • Experience using HUR replication tool
  • Experience using SYSVIEW
  • Experience with Data Library for mainframe (DLm)
  • Must have very good communication skills.
