Assumes responsibility for operating various types of digital equipment to produce printed goods on various types of media. Also assumes responsibility for providing quality customer service as well as mail and package processing and distribution assistance to all visitors to the Mail Services window in compliance with U.S. Postal Service regulations as well as institutional policies and procedures. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Mail Services
  • Provides customer service at the Mail Services window to all students, faculty and staff. Provides guidance and assistance to faculty, staff and students regarding postage charges, mail processes and the internal distribution of materials.
  • Processes and distributes U.S. Postal Service, UPS packages and other parcels for faculty, staff and students. Oversees the accurate and timely processing and tracking of charge backs to departments for metered mail.
  • Unloads, sorts, weighs and meters campus mail and packages. Performs bulk and second-class mailings. Prepares outgoing campus mail and packages for the U.S. Postal Service. Signs receipt for University Express mail. Manages multiple competing priorities under established time constraints.
  • Bundles and arranges mail and packages for University deliveries. Sorts and distributes mail and packages in the department of Mail Services. Meters outgoing mail.
  • As needed, delivers and collects mail, tubs and packages from designated U.S. Post Office, including but not limited to, registered, express, certified and insured packages. Signs for all "accountable" mail, as an authorized University of Hartford Mail Services representative. Loads and unloads trucks with sorted mail. Supplies trays to the U.S. Post Office; delivers permit and bulk mail to the U.S. Post Office. Deposits checks for stamps and picks up stamps at the U.S. Post Office.
  • Assists in other mailroom duties to ensure efficient operations and quality customer service to the University community.
Print Services
  • Operates digital equipment including, but not limited to, black and white and color digital presses, cutters, stitchers, sign makers, engravers and laminators to produce signage, nameplates, t-shirts, promotional materials, wide format posters, banners and other high end materials based on client needs.
  • Compiles and inputs job submission data into associated websites and/or systems, complying with data integrity standards as well as other related University policies and procedures. Reviews and verifies all appropriate backup documentation is complete.
  • Assists the Print Services department with signage and promotional items as necessary and/or appropriate.
  • Performs a variety of duties to meet the accurate and timely delivery of materials as well as processing and reconciliation of invoices. Orders and maintains adequate supply levels for routine maintenance.
  • Assists with purchasing materials including, but not limited to supplies, and repair of printers or other digital machines to support the effective operations of the department.
