Job description

Provide navy client with mail and document management support. Responsible for picking up mail from the Naval Base Post Office and returning materials to mail room. Receives, reads and presorts incoming materials into major classifications. Studies each document to determine what routing within the activity is required and if a deadline is being established, prepares appropriate routing control documents as appropriate, and distributes into the internal mail/guard mail distribution system addressed to cognizant codes.
Maintains a chronological file of route shops as a cross-reference for incoming mail/correspondence in routing with the command and works closely with Administrative personnel/and or official mail orderlies within Departments to ensure documents are routed effectively. Enters data requiring action into a word processing file which incumbent sends as electronic mail each week to all cognizant departments.
Responsible for tracking all accountable and classified material assigned and ensures delivery to appropriate departments.
Coordinate and prepares packages for shipping via FEDEX, USPS, Certified and Registered mail.
Maintains a chronological file of U.S. Postal Service Delivery Receipts for Accountable and Bulk Delivery Mail (PS Form 3883) received from the Naval Base Dockside Post Office.
Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience as mail clerk or administrative assistant in a DoD environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with government and contractor personnel
  • Familiar with Military protocol
  • Must have ACTIVE Security clearance
  • HS diploma or GED
