Job Description - The Magic House
Job Title: STEAM Center Art Educator
FLSA: Non-exempt
Status: Full-time or Part-time
Reports to: STEAM Manager
Job Purpose: To serve as a creative and innovative art educator with an ongoing commitment to high-quality Museum experiences both internally and in the community.
Time Allocation: Weekdays and weekends are required

  • Safeguard the property of The Magic House through care and respect and avoid waste and abuse.
  • Report to work on time and with a can-do attitude;
  • Keep timely and accurate financial, attendance, and program records;
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as a member of a team of educators to create an environment conducive to creative learning and appropriate for preschool, elementary and middle school age children;
  • Facilitate visitor experiences in creating makers, art and design projects using a variety of methods and media;
  • Assist visitors of all ages in using supplies, tools, exhibit software and experiences;
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and experience regarding tools, equipment and materials;
  • Ensure all Museum programs are high-quality and represent our educational philosophy and innovative position;
  • Supervise workshops, programs and summer camps;
  • Supervise part-time employees and volunteers assisting in the STEAM Center;
  • Ensure that spaces are clean, restocked, kept and well-maintained;
  • Participate in trainings as required by the organization;
  • Perform other duties as assigned;
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, master’s degree preferred
  • Have at least one year of postgraduate experience working with children, preferably in art education or makerspace environment
  • Demonstrated experience in organization and time management
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of groups and organizations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a leader who can delegate and meet deadlines
  • Effective planning and project management skills
