PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON OF 2026-27.  WE WILL NOT START THE INTERVIEWING PROCESS UNTIL MID-AUGUST WITH AN ANTICIPATED START DATE OF MID-SEPTEMBER.

We are recruiting for part-time, game night staff for the Orlando Magic, Osceola Magic, and Orlando Solar Bears.  Whether you are a college student, a teacher with a flexible schedule, someone looking to re-enter the workforce, or someone just looking for additional income, our part-time, event roles could be perfect for you.

What our Part-Time hiring process is like:

While every position is different, our part-time hiring process is typically a two-step process, sometimes more depending on the nature of the role.  After you apply, your resume will be reviewed by our hiring manager for that particular role.

After interviews have been conducted, candidates whom the hiring manager selected will be contacted by our Talent Acquisition team.  Candidates who are not selected to move forward will be contacted via email.  We would love to call 100% of the candidates, however we typically interview well over 250 candidates during this part-time hiring week, and we want to give every candidate the decision as soon as possible.

 

A quick summary about the Role:

The Technical Director serves as the primary conduit for the Video Production In-Arena show during Orlando Magic games and other live events at the Kia Center.  They are responsible for the proper execution of the show as dictated by the Director and Producer and are the final checkpoint between the control room and the displays. In the TD/Director role, they direct the composition of the camera operators and angles for replay playback and responsible for the proper execution of the show as dictated by the Producer for Orlando Solar Bears games and other live events at the Kia Center, as well as Osceola Magic games at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, FL.

What the position will be responsible for:

The Technical Director will be responsible for the operation of the Ross Acuity Production Switcher, checking and switching between video sources and taking responsibility for the on-air product, including camera shots, replays, pre-produced video elements, and graphics. 

  • Testing of all equipment and event triggers, including, but not limited to, the Ross Switcher, video router, audio monitoring, Evertz Multiviewer, GPI triggers to the Ross Video systems, custom controls, and in-house IPTV feed prior to rehearsal is required.
  • Following the instructions of the show Director and Producer instantaneously during the show in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate with the production team during cue-to-cue rehearsal
  • Manage multiple MEs, chroma key elements, server playbacks, replay wipes, key/fill elements, targa sequences, still stores.
  • Work with the LED Manager and Xpression Designer and Programmer to insure proper connectivity between the Ross Acuity Switcher and the Ross Tessera and Dashboard control systems.
  • Makes decisions with little or no choice as to the methods and procedures used in achieving results.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    The TD/Director additionally is responsible for the overall shot and replay selection for the show and executing the vision of the Producer and event client in a professional and high level of video production.

    • Work with the Producer to insure all elements playback properly prior to the start of the event.
    • Work with the EIC to ensure all communications are tested properly.
    • Work with the Shader to ensure all the camera operators are in the proper position with the equipment tested thoroughly.
    • Guide the Camera Operators on shot selection and framing. Guide the replay operators on angle and style of individual replays and packages.  Work with the CG operator (if applicable) on graphic style and content for the event.
    • Work with the EIC and Replay to ensure proper recording of the event.
    • All other duties as assigned.
      What is required for the role:
      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
      • College degree or equivalent experience required.
      • 5 years of live video technical directing & show directing experience required
      • Knowledge of NBA, Orlando Magic basketball, ECHL and Orlando Solar Bears Hockey and Arena Football preferred.
      • Live sports video production experience strongly required.
      • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
      • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
      • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
      • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
      • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over.
      • Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
      • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
      • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
