Job description

Business Manager, Retail Bank CD Strategy

Join the team driving the future of the Retail Bank! As a Business Manager on the Certificate of Deposit (CD) Pricing & Product Strategy team, you'll be responsible for leading our deposit growth and retention strategy for our high-balance, rate-savvy CD customers. You will collaborate with teams across the Bank-including Finance, Marketing and Product-to bring the CD pricing & product strategy to life through rigorous analysis, strategy refinement, and disciplined execution. You will also play a pivotal role in Bank profitability, customer experiences, and strategic product decisions to influence senior leaders and drive us towards our long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Develop and Execute a Product and Customer Experience Roadmap

  • Strategic Product and Growth Planning: Develop a roadmap that defines our "future state" offerings and optimal growth / retention levers, informed by product and rate experimentation.

  • Customer Experience Enhancements: Collaborate with Product and Marketing partners to identify, size, and prioritize customer experience enhancements and communications / offers for our CD customers.

  • Further Customer Segmentation Efforts: Advance our understanding of CD customers through analytics and research to drive towards a future with more segmented product, pricing, and marketing strategies.

Optimize our Pricing Strategy to Achieve our Growth and Profitability Goals

  • Dynamic Pricing: Help lead the interest rate strategy for CD terms, taking into account competitor game theory and balancing our deposit growth needs with profitability targets.

  • Trend Analysis: Monitor macro-economic trends, industry benchmarks, and competitor moves to proactively adjust our growth strategies and forecasts.

  • Forecasting Enhancements: Analyze deposit flow and CD retention trends to collaborate with Data Science and Forecasting teams to refine and improve the accuracy of our predictive models.

Strategic Partnerships: Lead high-impact collaborations across different lines of businesses and stakeholders including Finance, Product, Marketing, Forecasting, Corporate Strategy, and Legal/Compliance.

BasicQualifications:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience performing analysis

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:

    • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)

    • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in analysis

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services

  • 1+ year of experience in consulting

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $164,800 - $188,100 for Business Manager


Wilmington, DE: $149,800 - $171,000 for Business Manager










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
