Job description

Job Summary
MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Production Supervisor - Weekend Night Shift at our Savanna, Illinois manufacturing facility. In this role, you will lead production employees and oversee safety, quality, output, workflow, and continuous improvement within an assigned production area. You will also coach and develop employees while helping the operation meet production goals efficiently and safely.

  • Pay: $63,000-$70,000/year
  • Employment Type: Full-time / Salary (Exempt)
What You'll Do as a Production Supervisor
  • Supervise and lead production employees, directing daily work involving machinery operation, assembly, quality checks, and packaging while supporting established production goals and schedules.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, training, and ongoing support to employees to strengthen skills, performance, teamwork, and development.
  • Monitor production output and performance within the assigned area, helping ensure targets are met for quantity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Coordinate work processes across shifts and departments to maintain workflow consistency and meet production deadlines.
  • Identify equipment issues and notify maintenance or engineering teams when repairs or preventive maintenance are needed to minimize production downtime.
  • Oversee inventory levels within the assigned area and work with production planning to ensure required materials are available without unnecessary delays or overstocking.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards through production checks and collaboration with quality assurance teams, while supporting safety, environmental, and quality policies and 5S principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and complete required production documentation accurately and on time, including shift reports, inventory logs, and safety audits.
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, and equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S practices.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude to recognize equipment issues and escalate maintenance needs appropriately.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing software such as MES, ERP systems, or inventory management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop a diverse production team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coaching, reporting, and cross-department collaboration.
  • Effective conflict-resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role is performed in a manufacturing production environment. Employees in this position may stand or walk for extended periods of 8-12 hours per shift, lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 25-50 pounds as needed, and occasionally bend, reach, stoop, twist, or climb while overseeing production activities.
