We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for this Fall 2026 (August to December 2026).
This internship will provide hands-on experience in their intended field of interest and assist the continuous improvement of skill development and industry knowledge. They will also have the opportunity to be certified in SolidWorks through Duke.
The intern will work on in-office projects and keep the flow of fixturing projects. Although the need is generally around machining, there is potential for design work and assistance with other projects.
Internship Duties/Projects:
- Working with a machine shop or 3D printing lab to fabricate prototypes, testing them on the line, and iterating based on operator feedback.
- Utilizing software like SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo to design custom fixtures, holding jigs, or go/no-go gauges
- Writing, updating, or adding visual aids (photos/diagrams) to technical work instructions so operators can safely and consistently assemble products.
- Operating machining equipment (mill, lathe, bandsaw) to machine parts used in fixturing and gauges
This list defines the main duties/projects of the intern. Other projects may be assigned as needed.
Internship Schedule:
- Flexible work schedule: we can adjust depending on your school schedule
- Expect to report 20 to 40 hours a week
- Fall 2026 (August to December 2026)
Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled as a college student, community college student, or vocational school student
- Preferably attending a manufacturing engineering, machining program, or relevant field
