Job description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for assisting Shop Supervisor in daily operations of the machine shop. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, job setup, training, gage calibration, CNC program revision and flow of product through the machine shop.
NIGHT SHIFT ONLY
DUTIES:
  1. Provide the CNC operator(s) gages, programs, drawings, inspection sheets, protectors, setup material, and inserts for the next job scheduled on a machine.
  2. Capable of obtaining information from the VAM I-Key.
  3. Work with other machinist to reduce setup times, improve quality, increase production and properly maintain machines.
  4. Ability to set-up all gages that the Facility is currently licensed to machine.
  5. Check product molds or contour tracing when inspection personnel are not promptly available.
  6. Assist machinists in the daily performance and problem solving of their jobs.
  7. Write CNC programs for parts that are build-to-print.
  8. Train machinists in proper procedures for editing CNC programs.
  9. In the absence of the Supervisor - Machine Shop, assume the Manufacturing Supervisory responsibilities.
  10. Verify and approve Employee hours worked in the time keeping system.
  11. Responsible for directing activities from the Daily Manufacturing Schedule.
  12. Flexible and willing to shift priorities, work overtime and assist in areas of the facility as directed by Supervision.
  13. Insure all Manufacturing stress relief, forklift, phosphate, weekly maintenance, and crane log books are maintained.
  14. Insure all Manufacturing 5S Standards are maintained.
  15. Participate with a Continuous Improvement Team at minimum, once per year.
  16. Responsible to insure all Employees are following all applicable HS&E policies and procedures.
  17. Successfully complete all training specified related to CNC 4 job level.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO: Department Manager/Supervisor/Lead Person as applicable per facility
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Degree or GED required. Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
EXPERIENCE: Meet all qualifications for Machinist - CNC 3, with a minimum of 7 years experience in metal removal and metal working on a variety of machines. Experience required may be waived if leadership capability and proficiencies meet all aspects of running the production process as stated in CNC 4 - Lead Person Job Description.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Highly motivated team leader and communicates good with others. Must have work related computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point and E-mail. Qualified to drive a forklift.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Class III (Vallourec Tube-Alloy Physical & Environmental Requirements)
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: As detailed in Minimum Training Requirements Manual.
