Job description

Machine Shop Helper/Driver supports machinists by assisting with production, material handling, and machine maintenance. They may perform tasks such as cleaning, operating machines under supervision, QC inspection, driving the delivery truck and ensuring a safe and organized work environment. 

Responsibilities:

Assisting machinists: Helping with various tasks during the production process, including material handling, setup, and cleanup.

Machine operation: This could involve setting up machines, loading and unloading materials, or performing basic machining tasks under supervision

Material handling: Preparing materials for machining and or delivery, loading and unloading parts, and ensuring proper storage and inventory.

Equipment maintenance: Assisting with cleaning, lubricating, and basic maintenance of machines and tools.

Shop upkeep: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including cleaning up spills, sweeping floors, and organizing tools. 

Quality control: Performing basic inspections of parts and materials to ensure they meet quality standards.

Other duties: Assisting with various shop tasks as needed, such as running errands, delivering parts, or helping with repairs.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.

Basic math skills and the ability to read and understand blueprints or work instructions are essential.

Experience with hand tools, power tools, and/or basic machinery is a plus.

The ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds is often required.

A strong work ethic, dependability, and the ability to work as part of a team are important

Valid driver’s license.
