Reporting Relationship

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Primary: ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Quality Supervisor,ย  ย  ย Quality Manager, other designated leader

Position Purpose:ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Demonstrates knowledge of operational processes. Performs required work safely and uniformly within operation guidelines & standards but does not necessarily have proven proficiency in specific skillset within department.ย 

Job Assignment

Core Accountabilities

Gage Lab Inspector

  • Prepare gages / gauges for order inspection setup and secure the gage area by use of and adherence to proper storage and control measures.
  • Stand in and assist quality operations by ensuring all post-production materials are inspected as instructed, tested and documented according to standard quality procedures.ย 

Magnetic Particle Inspector - NDT

  • Set up and standardize magnetic particle equipment, conduct tests, interpret and evaluate test for acceptance or rejection and document test results.
  • Remain familiar with codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the method utilized.ย  Demonstrate ability to understand and work within parameters.

Quality Inspector (Couplings/Threading)

  • Ensure all post-production materials are inspected, tested, and documented according to standard quality procedures.
  • Oversee any pre-production quality inspection concerns and determine the best course of action while under supervision.

Lead Quality Control Inspector

  • Performs role of Inspectors as needed.
  • Additionally directs the work of other Inspectors to perform responsibilities efficiently and effectively.

Quality Control Foreman

  • Directly supervises / manages Inspectors and Leads and ensures their productivity and accuracy meets expectations.
  • As needed, can and does perform the role of these positions.

Qualifications and Essential Functions

Experience Required:ย ย ย 

Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment.ย  Six (6)+ months of training & close supervision in position.ย 

For foreman: Six (6)+ months of experience in supervisory role.

Education/Experience (REQUIRED):

High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; Certification a plus.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work overtime in order to meet the needs of the operation.ย 
  • Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance.ย  Visual ability consisting of strong close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • ย Perform intense manual labor with long work hours.ย  Ability to stand for a long period of time; bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move around work area.
  • ย Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with arms.
  • ย Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally, and 20 lbs regularly.
  • ย Demonstrates skill in operating equipment.
  • ย Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read a minimum of Jaeger 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer skills, (word, excel, type, email, etc.)

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.ย  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and mass; and interpret bar graphs.
  • ย Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments โ€“ Scale in 1/8โ€, 1/16โ€, 1/32โ€ and 1/64โ€ increments โ€“ 12โ€ to 72โ€ long; Protractor Head, Diameter Tape โ€“ 100โ€™s increments, Micrometers, Diameter Tape โ€“ 1/64โ€ increments, 6โ€ Vernier Caliper, 50โ€™ Tapes, Ring Gauges, Squares, Levels, Line Levels, Various Tape Measures, Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction, Fraction to Decimal), Tri-Square, String Line, Feeler Gauges, Overhead Scale, Dial Indicators, Calipers
