The Role
If you are interested in supporting the future of General Motors propulsion products - including engines, transmissions and electric drive unit systems - the Global Artisan Innovation Center (GAIC) GPS Machine Shop Scheduling team offers an exciting opportunity.
This position is a cross-functional role that supports Product Engineering, GAIC GPS Operations, Manufacturing, and other partner organizations involved in part fabrication and processing within the GAIC GPS Machine Shop. The role requires a basic understanding of part flow through machining operations, along with the ability to manage scheduling priorities and provide day-to-day coordination support. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established policies and procedures while escalating unusual issues as needed.
What You'll Do
  • Manage the schedule and priority of requests for the Machine Shop
  • Coordinate with stakeholders across multiple teams and organizations
  • Proactively follow up on submitted requests to clarify missing or incomplete information
  • Support part fabrication and processing workflows within the GAIC GPS Machine Shop
  • Assist with miscellaneous coordination and administrative support tasks
  • Apply accuracy and sound decision-making in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a business environment; machine shop or component manufacturing experience preferred
  • High level of analytical ability, communication, and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships and resolve issues effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with a high degree of autonomy and accountability for results
  • Strong ability to prioritize work and deliver assignments on time
  • Ability to navigate complex projects, people, and situations
  • Working knowledge of EMS and related processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a business, engineering, or related field
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and reporting tools such as Power BI, CTMS, SharePoint, Power Automate, and Excel macros
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, grinding, and heat treatment
  • Experience providing administrative support for project management activities, including maintaining timelines, schedules, reporting, capacity charts, EMS, and EVOS schedules
