JOB SUMMARY

The Shop Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient machine shop environment. This role supports production by ensuring machines and work areas are properly cleaned, maintained, and supplied, while also assisting with preventative maintenance tasks and material handling.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning of machines, including chip removal and full machine clean-outs
  • Manage chip handling processes, including collection, transport, and disposal or recycling
  • Maintain coolant systems by filling machines, monitoring levels, and assisting with coolant tank clean-outs
  • Conduct general shop cleaning duties such as sweeping floors, mopping, and wiping down equipment and surfaces
  • Assist with basic preventative maintenance (PM) tasks on machines as directed
  • Operate a forklift to move materials, chip bins, and other shop items safely and efficiently
  • Ensure work areas remain organized and free of hazards
  • Support production teams by maintaining a clean and functional workspace
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment preferred
  • Forklift experience or willingness to become certified
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine maintenance tasks
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
