Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Machine Operator II sets up and operates metal fabrication machines (press brakes, saws, shears, brakes,
punch/drill presses, etc.) in accordance with quality/quantity standards. The Machine Operator II may train other
employees on department operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Machine Operator II reviews shop operations packets and engineering drawings to insure that
incoming material is correct.
Based on production specifications and/or Group Lead instructions, selects and sets-up tools, equipment
and machine to optimize high quality flow of work through the work cell and department.
As specified, inspects and checks production to insure production output meets requirements.
Makes machine and tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming out-put to specifications.
Informs the Group Lead/Supervisor of any operating or material condition that would interfere with
quality/quantity production.
Performs routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all departmental tools and equipment,
including tool sharpening, machine oiling, fluid replacement, pressure checks, safety switch functioning,
etc.
The Machine Operator II segregates and periodically disposes of scrap material into approved collection
containers.
Performs all work in accordance with acceptable quality standards.
Performs all work in a safe manner, to include proper use of personal protective equipment.
Operates material handling equipment when moving materials into, around, or out of the work cell.
In performing assigned duties, lifts and/or moves up to and including 75 lbs.
Standing, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and climbing are all required
motions of the job.
Trains others in job functions as required.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and write, in order to comply with written instructions and complete job-related paperwork.
Five years previous experience in a sheet metal fabrication facility and familiarity with metric blueprint
dimensioning preferred.
