Job description

Technica LLC seeks to recruit for the position of Track Mechanic III on a Government contract with a place of performance at Fort Bliss, TX. This position is full-time but temporary. Anticipated period of performance ending 3 October 2026.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Performs field and sustainment level maintenance on military tracked vehicles applying applies advanced technical knowledge to diagnose complex problems that are occasionally outside the OEM reference material. Track vehicles include but not limited to the M113 Armored Personnel Carrier, M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicle (ABV), M104 Wolverine, M109 Howitzer, M88 Armored Recovery Vehicle, M577 Command Post Carrier, M121Mortar Carrier, M1064 Self-propelled 120MM Mortar Carrier, M1068 Standard Integrated Command Post System (SICPS), M7 Bradley Fire Support Team (BFIST), M2A3, M3A3 Cavalry Fighting Vehicle, M1A2 Abrams, M1A2 SEP2.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned to include maintenance and repairs on a wide range of civilian vehicles such as light and heavy trucks, forklifts and U.S. military wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and MHE systems
  • Maintenance includes but not limited to inspecting, troubleshooting, servicing, maintaining performs such tasks as repair of turbine power plants/ packs, diesel power plants/packs, compression-ignition engine fuel systems, compression ignition air induction systems, vehicle air cooling systems, vehicle liquid cooling systems, track hull electrical systems, automatic transmission assemblies, track vehicle cross drive transmission assemblies, transfer assemblies, hydraulic brake systems, mechanical/hydraulic steering systems, track vehicle hydraulic assemblies, track and suspension systems, crew environmental systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, turrets and subsystems. The ability to perform data load and verify software.
  • performs other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Shop lead.
  • Operates materiel handling equipment (MHE) as required.
  • May be required to provide technical guidance to lower-level mechanics.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Former Soldiers with prior military occupational skill (MOS) 63H, 63T, 91M, 91A, 91H is preferred but not required.
  • Formal training, completion of MOS 63H, 63T, 91M, 91A, 91H course conducted under the auspices of the USA Ordnance Center and School.
  • 5 years of Defense contracting experience working on military track vehicles.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Must have advanced technical experience inspecting LRUs and fire control systems and possess the ability to employ applicable testing and diagnostic procedures in accordance with appropriate technical manuals.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks related to the position.
  • Valid state issued driver license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident for more than 3 years.
  • Able to function with a basic level of English oral and written language skills.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to include intense heat, heavy wind, blowing sand, heavy rain, sleet and snow.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to pick up and move items within a 50 lbs. restriction with a frequent or constant lifting of 40 lbs.
  • Climb in and out of military vehicles and related equipment.
  • Capable of climbing and working on equipment at 10 feet above ground limit.
  • Capable of using and understanding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work past normal hours as mission dictates.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret Army Technica Manuals with relation to scheduled maintenance and repairs.
  • Must be proficient is using EMS & IADS

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background checks related to the position.
