Insurance · Investment & derivative accounting

AVP Investment Accountant

Responsible for the accounting and reporting for derivatives and investment accounting including for all funds both US and Internationally based.


Responsibilities


Investments

  • Review month-end packages obtained from the company's external investment accounting services provider.
  • Prepare income analyses related to company's investment portfolios.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
  • Update accounting records for trading activity (internal trades).
  • Responsible for review of outside service provider’s work.
  • Coordinate with operations group to resolve breaks and other operational issues.
  • Reconcile suspense account.


Derivatives

  • Perform all derivative accounting for all entities.
  • Perform derivative balance roll forward / balance sheet account reconciliation.
  • Prepare supporting workpapers and populate all derivative disclosures.
  • Prepare external reporting (e.g. Schedule DB).
  • Prepare internal reporting on derivatives to senior management.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements for derivative counterparty.
  • Prepare quarterly analysis of valuation adjustments (e.g. credit adjustments, etc.) for derivatives.
  • Work with Treasury Operations Group on collateral movements.
  • Prepare quarterly analysis of valuation adjustments (e.g. credit adjustments, etc.) for financial service derivatives.
  • Assist with projects needed to improve processes and reports.
  • Provide support to internal and external auditors as the lead interface for their questions and documentation requests relating to investments.
  • Performance of all control responsibilities, including those in departmental policies and procedures as well as any other control responsibilities assigned by the manager.


Education, experience, and other qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other business/finance degree with a concentration in accounting.
  • Five or more years experience in Public Accounting or Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
  • Knowledge of Sovos statutory reporting software a plus.
  • Knowledge of Clearwater Analytics a plus.
  • CPA preferred.
