FIRE & LIFE SAFETY DIRECTOR (FLSD) – HOTEL SECURITY

Location: Luxury Hotels, New York City

Pay Rate: Starting at $25.00/hour

Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time Available

Position Summary

We are currently hiring experienced and certified Fire & Life Safety Directors (FLSDs) to work in high-profile luxury hotel properties throughout New York City. This dual-role position integrates FDNY life safety compliance with professional hotel security duties, requiring strong situational awareness, excellent communication, and a polished guest-service presence.

Key Responsibilities

Fire & Life Safety Oversight

Serve as the designated FLSD on-site per FDNY compliance standards

Monitor and operate fire alarm and life safety systems

Lead emergency responses (fire, medical, evacuation, power failure, active threats)

Maintain compliance logs, conduct drills, and complete incident reports

Liaise with FDNY and other emergency services

Enforce adherence to Fire Code, Local Laws, and hotel safety procedures

Hotel Security Duties

Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the property

Conduct routine patrols of public areas, back-of-house, and perimeter zones

Monitor surveillance systems and control access points

Address guest concerns and disturbances professionally and discreetly

Support hotel staff with loss prevention, crowd control, and crisis management

De-escalate challenging situations while maintaining guest satisfaction

Qualifications

Required:

Valid FDNY FLSD Certificate of Fitness (F-89, T-89, or Z-89)

(Onsite test completion required within one year if not already held)

Current NYS Security Guard License

(including 8- and 16-hour training certificates and valid annual refresher)

Preferred:

Previous experience in luxury hotels or commercial building security

Strong verbal/written communication and report-writing skills

Professional demeanor and appearance

Flexible availability including overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
